Public toilets in Amman

I don't know if I have to start this by asking Why we don't have public toilets in Amman or by begging to have public toilets? it doesn't have to be free at all, make it one JD per ehem but don't force people to do it in car parks or between two cars in the main street. Today I went to down town to drink my dose of Sahlab and pick some DVDs and while jumping from DVD store to another I saw two guys doing it near Hashem restaurant exactly next to Al-Weibdeh white taxis stop, I understand it's very cold and that make holding it longer really hard! but that doesn't justify doing it there, nevertheless, it sounds like they didn't had any other solution. One month ago I was with my friend in Abdoun when I got an urgent call from nature (LoL) and there were very limited choices so I picked McDonald's as last resort but it wasn't comfortable to use their toilet without having the status of customer so I first asked the cashier for two ice cream and then

How to get Police attention

Humor 200ok Going to be the other night, I noticed people in my shed stealing things. I phoned the police but was told no one was in the area to help. They said they would send someone as soon as possible. I hung up. A minute later I rang again. "Hello," I said, I called you a minute ago because there were people in my shed. You don't have to hurry now, because I've shot them." Within minutes there were half a dozen police cars in the area, plus helicopters and an armed response unit. They caught the burglars red-handed. One of the officers said: "I thought you said you'd shot them." To which I replied: "I thought you said there was no one available."

Yesterday I met one of my friend whom I knew since she were in UAE but now in Jordan, we decided to go to Old view cafe but things didn't work as until 10:40 AM they weren't yet open, so we decided to walk around until they open so we can sit and talk instead of suffering the cold weather but after twenty minutes of walking we suddenly decided to go to Jerash. We walked to down town and then headed to Al-Abdali, unfortunately the bus on the queue was 50 passenger kind of bus so we had to wait about one hour to fill it and go same happened to Portuguese tourists whom we helped to find Jerash bus and whom asked me if I were Palestinian refugee or Jordanian ? sounds like LonelyPlanet guide are ruined and full of such not very accurate information about Jordan but I didn't bother explaining that they are not refugees any more as they've melted down long time ago, they got full rights in Jordan just like any Jordanian but yet they have the refugee status so they can nag for

Why such services still exists ?

Why such service providers like StatCounter , Webstats4u still exists ? especially when we have Google analytics that can handle five million pageviews month for free while others will lock you at 250.000? not to mention the very professional and detailed information that Google Analytics can provide while others simply doesn't have it or lets compare google service reliability to other small providers like the mentioned above? The question that I'm trying to answer is, Why such small providers still exists when the big are there and for free and Why people still uses and tries those service while we have Google analytics? Weird isn't it ?

Some rumour said that Yarmouk's riot were just training for graduate Journalism student so they can cover Parliament stories efficiently but the truth this should alert us and the government to start educating people so they can give their voice to anyone but not those street fighters. I just want to remind you guys that they didn't fight while discussing Water shortage in Jordan nor while discussing poverty in Jordan but over elections of House committees just similar to what teenagers at Yarmouk University fought over, Yes such mentality represents us in Parliament and while they are supposed to put plans, discuss and force government direction into a way that makes Jordanian lives better they are fighting for silly reasons just like teenagers. This issue should raise up the red alert, government now are responsible on educating people, fortunately we have a good margin of democracy in Jordan but unfortunately we do not know how to use it yet therefore there should be some

Testing your code

Perhaps no other coding practice is as important as testing your code. Also in the nature of Business Development, where parts of your code always change on the request of a client (including Management), or even when you want to make your code run with better performance, Automated tests are highly needed, you can't just spread your print statements all over your code every time you need to test it. With automated tests, you can just be sure that your interface is not broken after some change, you just run your tests, if they succeed, you know that you didn't break your code (this means you should right good tests). Let's start by a simple example, Imagine that we have been asked to test PHP's built-in Array. One bit of functionality to test is the function sizeof(). For a newly created array we expect the sizeof() function to return 0. After we add an element, sizeof() should return 1. (I know it's not a big deal, but it's just an example). you can do it with

Is it the cost of being the new empire?

Is it the cost of being the newest world empire to have high crime rate and now the the most prisoners in the World? or is it because they have tough sentencing laws? but why do they have such tough sentencing laws from the first place if they didn't experience high crime rate? CommonDream.org - WASHINGTON - US Has the Most Prisoners in the World - According to the International Centre for Prison Studies at King's College in London, more people are behind bars in the United States than in any other country. China ranks second with 1.5 million prisoners, followed by Russia with 870,000.. I think Americans could easily ease down the number of Arab immigrant queue in the front of their embassies in Arab countries just by publishing such reports in the front of their doors. I recently decided to disconnect my home ADSL line so I can enjoy the plenty of time I have after working nine hours a day and now after one week of living without internet at home I can assure it's very healthy for you and your family, now I can spend more time with family, now I can clean the messy room, now I can read some of the giant to-read-list however there are many disadvantages starting from not being able to moderate my blog comments after six pm, not being able to check my email ending by calling a friend asking for a fix (30 minutes using his/her ADSL account) and my first victim was Nimer :D It's not that I don't want to renew my ADSL nor it's Tedata's new download policy, it's about me and only me, it's about being able to control myself by staying away from internet for a while without dying slowly and without feeling I have nothing todo not to mention the many many stuff that I have to do at home. It might sound silly but yet I couldn't

She does not have to respect your God

I understand that many Americans wont do the same but I wonder if they do think that we have different God? We have different religion but we still do pray for the same God, don't we? Det news - Fitness USA, a gym chain, is investigating an alleged civil rights violation involving a local Muslim woman who says her afternoon prayer was interrupted by a fellow patron, and that her complaint to management about the situation was rejected. "The manager told me, You have to respect her (the patron), but she does not have to respect your God, said Wardeh Sultan of Dearborn. I've had my membership for seven or eight years, and I've never had a problem with praying there. I told that manager, 'I can't believe you said that'  Sultan said. Best motivation so far

to blog anonymously Why do you write anonymously? I’ll never take anything you say seriously unless you’re willing to put your real name on it. For all you know, everyone writes anonymously, but you just bought it when they signed their posts ‘Mark.’ The fact of the matter is that the name is only important when you’re an egomaniac that demands recognition for your work. I am not. For me, the ideas presented are important and I could give a shit what the name is. If I said my name was Sissy McRealnamepants from New Jersey would that make anything I said more valid? Would that take the bite out? Is your opinion more important than mine because a bunch of people who couldn’t pick you out of a crowd know your name is Stacey? Besides, artists have been using pen names and pseudonyms for generations now, so quit acting like this is some new phenomenon. Mark Twain. Richard Bachman. Meatloaf. Leigh Nichols. Prince. Madonna. Lemony Snicket. J.K Rowlin

Jordan's Internet - Wanadoo Step forward - Tedata step backward

Yeah I know it's worthy to announce that you have increased the available Internet speed you provide to 2Mbit in Jordan which is just cool at least it shows you how confident they are in their bandwidth. On the other hand Tedata just announced a new bandwidth cap policy, From now on Tedata will NOT (Can you hear me?) give you unlimited bandwidth plan but limited one Their new plan start from 3GB a month which I can reach just by checking my email and my blog or you can pay extra money to get 7GB which is also not enough. Two days ago I decided to disconnect my ADSL line since I will not make use of the 512 speed for more than five days a month which is ridicules, for me it's much easier to live without Internet than being intimidated with being caped. I don't really know what's causing this in Jordan, is it JTC? TRC? or the lovely ISPs? any clue ? [tags] Jordan, internet, wanadoo, tedata, adsl, speed, cap [/tags]

You Might Be A Programmer If

You immediately complain that this should be subscripted as zero. Most people say "Go To Hell," but you tell people to redirect to /dev/null. By the time you've gotten here in the document, you've run Tidy or a similar app to check my X/HTML skills. The statement (0x2b||!0x2b) makes sense to you. You find 4 funny. You note with disgust that it always evaluates to true, since 0x2b != 0. Point 6 disgusts you, because under other languages than C++ (Java, per se), it would throw an exception, runtime error, etc. Both points 6 and 7 disgust you, because (0x2b||!0x2b) isn't a statement. You wonder why there's so much religious debate. After all, can't they just type man life? When you think of Blowfish, the stuff described on www.blowfish.com has no relation to what comes to mind. You can write formal grammar statements for C, C++, C#, Java, Perl, Python, PHP, HTML, any XML schema, Assembly, Obj-C, QBASIC, XBASIC
