AMMAN, Jordan, 5 January 2009 At a UNICEF-organized press conference here this morning, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah made an urgent plea on behalf of all the civilians living in Gaza especially children for a humanitarian ceasefire and for the international community to do all it can to help alleviate the suffering. Queen Rania, who is UNICEFs Eminent Advocate for Children, was accompanied by UNICEF Regional Director Sigrid Kaag and other UN agency representatives. In an urgent message to world leaders, Her Majesty warned that our humanity is incomplete when children, irrespective of nationality, are victims of military operations. She called on all nations to act to end the fighting and open all crossings, especially Karni, to permit the uninterrupted passage of wheat, fuel, medicine and other vital supplies. -Ars Technica - Steve Jobs takes a medical leave until the end of June Apple CEO Steve Jobs' health issues are "more complex" than he originally thought, leading him to take medical leave until the end of June. In a letter sent out to Apple employees and the press this afternoon, Steve Jobs acknowledged that concerns about his health continue to act as a distraction for both his family and the company, and therefore, Apple's Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook will be in charge until Steve Jobs' return this summer. Team, I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought. In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my heal

I'm not proposing a different or a better answer and there can be many answers of course but I personally don't believe in boycotting as an answer although I'm a natural boycotter but that because I prefer supporting local and Arabic goods or because I simply cannot afford it but certainly not because I hate other goods. There has been some talks about boycotting different popular brands and businesses starting from McDonalds, Dell, Burger King, Starbucks and many other very popular brands but I don't really think it's a good idea to boycott any. The interesting thing about the International brands is that they do their best to hire locals which is good to our economy and good to our own people, If you go to your favorite local restaurant you will find an expatriate waiter, chef, cleaner so practically we don't care about ourselves to start with to boycott foreign investment when they do hire us instead of expatriates. If you go to McDonalds, Burgerking, Hardees

Cloud computing made even easier with Amazon EC2 console

Amazon are the true leaders of cloud computing in the market for the last two-three years and with 2009 they just announced their AWS Management Console to make your clouding experience even easier, I'm big fat fan of Amazon by itself and a die hard fan with their Web Service. Four days ago I received a developer announcement email about the new Management console which is basically a web-based, point-and-click, graphical user interface that makes it even easier to access and manage AWS Infrastructure Web Services. The initial release provides an online interface for Amazon EC2, with additional AWS services scheduled to be added in the coming months. The console presents an intuitive, global picture of your cloud computing environment so that you can control your AWS resources without programming directly to an API. You do not need to write any code or install any software if you access Amazon EC2 via the AWS Management Console. You simply log in to the console after signing up for

As promised in part one here is the textual part, we tried to describe every thing witnessed and this is why we are posting it after three days of that demonstration. Thankfully , I'm not a journalist nor a professional photographer but an amateur who took the chance to capture some of the street pulse in Amman along with a wanna-be local friend of mine who's co-writing this post. The demonstration was against the massacre in Gaza calling for the closure of the Israeli embassy in Amman and the ousting of the ambassador from the Kingdom. It was a good experience because I learned a lot but at the same time it was not pleasant as I witnessed things I never thought I'd see in the Kingdom. Delivering the news is not an easy task at all - especially in the Arab world as you will be labelled with the special markers. One marker is with us and the other one is against us and of course there is the analytical point of view which will use the affiliation marker without using with

Sahritna.com Company decided to donate with the whole profit of the highest month income achieved each year as a permanent fund for supporting Gaza under the name of "Palestine month" to become the first online company who support Palestine financially in public. It has been revealed that a lot of foreign business companies announced that they are supporting Israel by raising hundreds of millions of dollars each year especially in mean time for all the weapons, bulldozers and army preparing … and all this is just for turning the lives of Palestinians into a misery. From this and all the ugly inhumanity actions that are being practice against Gaza's people. The company is emphasizing on the vital role of t

By Gilad Atzmon - London Communicating with Israelis may leave one bewildered. Even now when the Israeli Air Force is practicing murder in broad daylight of hundreds of civilians, elderly persons, women and children, the Israeli people manage to convince themselves that they are the real victims in this violent saga. Those who are familiar intimately with Israeli people realise that they are completely uninformed about the roots of the conflict that dominates their lives. Rather often Israelis manage to come up with some bizarre arguments that may make a lot of sense within the Israeli discourse, yet make no sense whatsoever outside of the Jewish street. Such an argument goes as follows: ‘those Palestinians, why do they insist upon living on our land (Israel), why can’t they just settle in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon or any other Arab country?’ Another pearl of wisdom sounds like this: ‘what is wrong with these Palestinians? We gave them water, electricity, education and all they do is try
