iPhone now with P2P torrent

Tuaw - iPhone Hacker core announced a preliminary version of a Transmission Peer-to-Peer client for iPhone. The code is ported from the Transmission site to run on the iPhone's ARM microprocessor. Tests on downloaded files produced the identical MD5 checksum as downloading via wget.

The intention was to download audio and video but imagine if you could synchronise your Transmission downloads on your laptop with iPhone and resume on the go with your Wireless iPhone; God! that would be great!

  1. The iPhone is an over-hyped, over-rated product. Don't get me wrong, it is great for browsing the web, playing music and videos. But other than that, it is pretty much a terrible phone.

What i don't understand is why didn't apple take its time to actually add some of the functionality that other phones (with similar or even lesser price) have. For example, the iPhone is about the same price as the Nokia N95. Yet, the iPhone comes with a on a 2 mega pixel camera that does not even take videos!! There aren't different "profiles" on the phone (so that you can quickly turn it into silent or vibrate profile without doing that manually). It doesn't support Java, it doesn't support Flash, heck, you can't even upload your own ringtone to it !! My crummy old phone can set any audio file to be its ringtone, but the iPhone doesn't allow you to.

To add to the mix, the actual software that comes on the phone is pretty much hacky. The calendar software is terrible, it doesn't even provide the most basic functionalities such as a weekly view!! The "phone application's" keypad, each key press makes the same noise as if you are dialing on a normal home phone ... but you can not disable that noise. So, if you are in a quite room, you can't dial a number without disturbing the others around you.

Imagine, before the January 2008 update, you couldn't even send SMS to multiple people!!

Personally, i am not an anti-apple guy, and i don't think that the iPhone is totally crap. But, realistically, it doesn't offer you many great features compared to any other smart phone, or even any other mobile phone on the market. It is really great for surfing the web, but for other than that .. forget about it.

It has to be said though, apple is a master in over-hyping and over-rated-marketing. They do make good products (i assume) .. but their marketing department should win prizes.

اهم التطورات العلمية في العام ٢٠١٩

Dear Microsoft : It's over. Our relationship just hasn't been working for a while, and now, this is it. I'm leaving you for another Operating system. I know this isn't a good time--you're down with yet another virus. I do hope you feel better soon--really, I do--but I, too, have to move on with my life. Fact is, in the entire time I've known you, you seem to always have a virus or an occasional worm. You should really see a doctor. That said, I just can't continue with this relationship any longer. I know you say you'll fix things, that next time it'll go better--but that's what you said the last time--and the time before that. Each time I believed you. Well, not any longer. You cheater! The truth is there's nothing more you can say to make things better. I know about your secret marriage to patent. You say you two are not seeing each other anymore, but I just don't believe it. You say you can live without patent, and I've heard that

Saddam's novel to be published next week

AMMAN, Jordan: Saddam Hussein's family will publish next week a novel written by the ousted Iraqi leader before the US-led war on Iraq, his daughter said on Friday. "Ekhroj minha ya mal'un" whose title could be translated into "Get out, damned one" tells the story of a man called Ezekiel who plots to overthrow a town's sheik, but is defeated in his quest by the sheik's daughter and an Arab warrior. The story is apparently a metaphor for a Zionist-Christian plot against Arabs and Muslims. Ezekiel is meant to symbolize the Jews. Raghad Saddam Hussein said her father finished the novel on March 18, 2003 -- a day before the US-led war on Iraq began -- and had expressed a wish to publish the book under his name. The three other novels he wrote were simply signed "Its author." "It was my father's will to publish this book," Raghad said in a telephone interview.
