I have been contemplating switch to Umnia but yet I couldn't make the decision although I've heard lots of good feedback about their service especially in mobile coverage.
Couple of days ago Umnia came up with UMax service which satisfy my needs, first to get rid of my land line because Orange land lines doesn't have Naked ADSL accounts yet and because of portability that UMax offer.
My Tedata account is about to expire in like 45 days so I have to make up my mind either to stick with a land line but to go with Orange Internet instead of Tedata or to cancel all of my accounts and go with Umnia's Umax.
Umnia's UMax is cheaper but not to the limit of making a quick decision not to mention the ambiguous
Also their QOS makes me question their service reliability *in a good manner as a consumer* especially when they didn't state the amount of shared bandwidth and their shared bandwidth selling policy; I don't want to end up with an over soled bandwidth account.
*COS: Class of Service
** QOS: Quality of Service
The difference between Silver, Gold and Platinum service quality isn't a big deal for anyone subscribing annually, so I guess all people going to run after the Platinum quality and then we are going to have a crowded shared internet.
Also, Umnai's Online calculator (UMax Price Plan) doesn't count the %16 sales taxes nor it does tell if there is any hidden fees like university taxes that applies to all communication related bills (Internet, Mobile, Landlines) and in this case UMnia have only got the portability to offer, not the price nor the reliability of service or I'm over analyzing here? and yeah we have to add 200 JOD for the wireless modem price or 6 JOD a month for monthly rental
I really cannot see that they're any cheaper than landlines, Anyway, 45 days counting and I really wish they will prove the opposite by providing a reliable service, I'd compromise the price with portability but only if they have a reliable service.

Class of Servicewhich I didn't like the idea of having such option.
Class of Service - There are three Classes Of Service (COS) Platinum, Gold and Silver. Each COS offers a different class of service in terms of getting access to the internet. The Platinum COS offers the highest priority, followed by Gold and Silver. COS ensures that you get priority access to the services over other customers when the network is congested.
Also their QOS makes me question their service reliability *in a good manner as a consumer* especially when they didn't state the amount of shared bandwidth and their shared bandwidth selling policy; I don't want to end up with an over soled bandwidth account.
Quality of Service (QOS) provides you with fixed assigned bandwidth as opposed to a shared bandwidth which is offered to all customers. There are two types:
Committed: It refers to fixed assigned band width speed to the subscriber.
Shared: It refers to dynamic band width management to all subscribers to use the band width.
| Speed | Duration | COS * | QOS ** | Up/Down | price JD |
| 1 Mbps | 12 months | Silver | Shared | Asymmetric | 294 JOD |
| 1 Mbps | 12 months | Gold | Shared | Asymmetric | 305 JOD |
| 1 Mbps | 12 months | Platinum | Shared | Asymmetric | 316 JOD |
*COS: Class of Service

Cycling against Landmines - From Lake Geneva to The Dead Sea
StopMines.ch - From Lake Geneva to The Dead Sea, Armin Köhli's New Cycling Challenge
4800 Km by Bike across 13 Countries
The double amputee and exceptional cyclist
Armin Köhli takes on the challenge of a 4800 km
bike tour across Europe and the Middle East.
He will leave from Geneva at the beginning
of October and arrive in Jordan on November 18th,
where the 8th Meeting of State Parties to the Ottawa
Convention against land mines is due to take place.
By accomplishing this feat, Armin Köhli hopes
to raise public and media awareness of the fight
against the scourge of land mines, which causes
15'000 victims every year worldwide, including
a great many children. To this end, events are being
planned along the course to allow Armin Köhli to meet
young people, mine victims and political and media
representatives in different countries.
The project is timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Ottawa Treaty banning the use, production and transfer of landmines.

Sometimes it is hard to change the local policies at home, even if you are the one in charge; however there are always things that would make the change smoother even if you know that it will take a time to happen.
Still, we need to be realistic about our demands, there are things that cannot be changed easily and it is waste of time to even try to change them. Therefore, we better focus our efforts on fighting for essential demands, which can be obtained by a single signature by the decision maker in charge.
Such demands would definitely make Jordanian lives easier, more productive and compatible with the state of the art technologies.
1) Taxes and Meaningless fees on some items like Laptops, Desktops and computer accessories, Still Cameras, Video Cameras and Photography accessories4 matter why
2) Importing books should be tax-free, as I believe that this is the second best option since getting the government to sponsor importing books seems out of the question.
The above-mentioned suggestions would surely sound more realistic and doable if we could find other ways to replace the sources of tax money from those suggested tax -exempted items. So here, I suggest the following:
1-) Increase the tax value on cigarettes, hookahs and related products.
2-) Strictly, enforce applying of traffic laws and regulations with no exceptions.
3-) Activate the role of the environmental police in different parts of the kingdom. This would surely bring double benefits; it would increase them amounts of collected fines and keep our environment free of harm.
As a candidate, I promise I will focus all my efforts to turn those suggestions into real actions for the benefit of Jordan, country and people.
As a concerned citizen, I do have many other suggestions. But since I can't promise accomplishing them as it seems hard to do so because they are either controversial or require some tough rounds with business whales who either have close ties with decision makers or even are decision makers themselves. What I can promise in this regard is talking about these issues and raising the public awareness of the importance of implementing them hoping that this would eventually be realized. One of these suggestions would be getting the private companies to give back to society 10% of their net profit and of their advertising campaigns .This money will be invested in financing charity projects and education and health organization. The other suggestion would be enforcing what I call '' Mosque Tax'' which is to collect the sum of 1 JD and allocate this money to maintaining mosques cleanness, paying the Imam salary, implementing mobile signals blocker and renewing the staled carpets
So people, these are my promises and this is what I can do if I got elected.
Vote for me or may God not let you vote.
