Public toilets in Amman

I don't know if I have to start this by asking Why we don't have public toilets in Amman or by begging to have public toilets? it doesn't have to be free at all, make it one JD per ehem but don't force people to do it in car parks or between two cars in the main street.

Today I went to down town to drink my dose of Sahlab and pick some DVDs and while jumping from DVD store to another I saw two guys doing it near Hashem restaurant exactly next to Al-Weibdeh white taxis stop, I understand it's very cold and that make holding it longer really hard! but that doesn't justify doing it there, nevertheless, it sounds like they didn't had any other solution.

One month ago I was with my friend in Abdoun when I got an urgent call from nature (LoL) and there were very limited choices so I picked McDonald's as last resort but it wasn't comfortable to use their toilet without having the status of customer so I first asked the cashier for two ice cream and then run to toilet trying to beat the time, thankfully I succeed but that marks it as the MOST EXPENSIVE ehem IN HISTORY!.

I know there are many high priority stuff we have to do before thinking of public toilets but no! I think it is priority to have such thing, for god sake why Australia have public toilets? they even have National Public Toilet Map can't we have something similar ? but ohh don't remind me of Raghadan public toilets that was totally different experience and don't even mention your university toilets because it's another story.

Thankfully men can do it whenever and wherever they want even if we don't have public toilets and this because we can do it standing but take a minute and think of the others? yes girls? you know they cannot do it standing for natural weakness (LoL) and yet this marks as another reason of why we cannot be equal.

I think government should think of such service and they actually should make it good service because they can monetise it, it would be new money tap for them and would stop the human tap in the street.

Ohh shit! got to go! Natural call.

How to get Police attention

Humor 200ok Going to be the other night, I noticed people in my shed stealing things.

I phoned the police but was told no one was in the area to help. They said they would send someone as soon as possible.

I hung up. A minute later I rang again. "Hello," I said, I called you a minute ago because there were people in my shed. You don't have to hurry now, because I've shot them."

Within minutes there were half a dozen police cars in the area, plus helicopters and an armed response unit. They caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the officers said: "I thought you said you'd shot them."

To which I replied: "I thought you said there was no one available."

Yesterday I met one of my friend whom I knew since she were in UAE but now in Jordan, we decided to go to Old view cafe but things didn't work as until 10:40 AM they weren't yet open, so we decided to walk around until they open so we can sit and talk instead of suffering the cold weather but after twenty minutes of walking we suddenly decided to go to Jerash.

We walked to down town and then headed to Al-Abdali, unfortunately the bus on the queue was 50 passenger kind of bus so we had to wait about one hour to fill it and go same happened to Portuguese tourists whom we helped to find Jerash bus and whom asked me if I were Palestinian refugee or Jordanian ? sounds like LonelyPlanet guide are ruined and full of such not very accurate information about Jordan but I didn't bother explaining that they are not refugees any more as they've melted down long time ago, they got full rights in Jordan just like any Jordanian but yet they have the refugee status so they can nag for compensations from U.N and other local organizations.

The bus wasn't as bad as I told my friend but all I was trying to do is to have her prepared to breath the diesel smoke but this didn't happen, when we arrived to the main gate of the site it was closed so we had to walk about 10 minutes so we can enter from the other gate, they made it very clear at that gate that we have to buy tickets but the tickets booth was closed so we thought it's not required any more so we headed to start the journey but oops there are another gate with two policemen checking for tickets
Jerash - Ticket check
what a waste of resources, two policemen checking for tickets? and what! we had to go about 600 meter back to buy tickets just because they were smart enough at the main gate when they decided to close it and didn't mention anything about the closed ticket booth, in our way to buy the tickets we saw our Portuguese friends and now they helped us and told us where we have to buy the tickets from.

Anyway, Policemen and all guides were polite more than enough but it was annoying to walk back to buy the ticket especially that they got booth at the ticket check place so they can just sell it there.

Finally we are in! but what to do ? it's very unplanned trip, I don't know much about the site history nor my friend does so we had to do the dirty plan FOLLOW THE WHITE BEAR! plan, we hunted for any tourists with a guide and nyahahah! we found American tourists with a guide, so we start walking very close to them trying to hear what the guide is saying and it worked! neyahahahah! yes we have learned a bit about Jerash history, The guide was cool enough to talk to us and suggest some places to take photos from and of and all of that was for FREE! neyahahahah

At the museum they had some sculpture they found in Ein Ghazal and I don't really know what's the connection between those sculptures and Jerash and you know what, it's very small museum, The Citadel one are much bigger and more informative but hey we were trying our luck, the trip were really amazing, actually we checked every inch in the site even the caves and the underground paths or whatever they call it, despite the Tea guy didn't recommend going down and he tried to intimidate us BE CAREFUL IT'S FULL OF SNAKES DOWN THERE but hey it's winter and the weather was freezing and snakes would never make it out in such climate but you know what, I wish we had listened to the guy! not because we found three snakes welcome us but because there was nothing there at all to look at, it wasn't worthy to go down to the underground paths.

The tea guy tried to sell us some old coins but I thought those are either fake or he's doing illegal stuff but who cares, not interested in such thing.

Now time to head back to Amman, it's 5:00 PM, regular buses are not there so we had to take our chance which was a very nice man who work in selling pigeon and he was in Jerash for pigeon trade, what I didn't note before going with him that his car was like just coming from the world wide war LoL, he didn't have lights at all nor the road to Amman, so we were driving by chasing others lights, interesting isn't it ?

The other thing that he didn't note before leaving is filling the car with gas! damn it stopped at Ein Al basha! if it only worked for more few kilos we would be in Swileh! so we turned back to Baqa'aa to find a gas station, thing worked smoothly.

The driver had very normal characteristic of any Jordanian, he was honest, helping and it was hard to for him to accept money for the ride! he just wanted to help, while in the way to Amman we talked about almost everything and it was like we know each other since Adam and Eve age heh but yes this is very normal in Jordan.

Finally we are in Amman! Lovely Amman, Ok we are starving and we really need big dose of any thing classified as food so it's the Hardee's junk meal and oops end of the story.

Why such services still exists ?

Why such service providers like StatCounter, Webstats4u still exists ? especially when we have Google analytics that can handle five million pageviews month for free while others will lock you at 250.000?

not to mention the very professional and detailed information that Google Analytics can provide while others simply doesn't have it or lets compare google service reliability to other small providers like the mentioned above?

The question that I'm trying to answer is, Why such small providers still exists when the big are there and for free and Why people still uses and tries those service while we have Google analytics?

Weird isn't it ?

Some rumour said that Yarmouk's riot were just training for graduate Journalism student so they can cover Parliament stories efficiently but the truth this should alert us and the government to start educating people so they can give their voice to anyone but not those street fighters.

I just want to remind you guys that they didn't fight while discussing Water shortage in Jordan nor while discussing poverty in Jordan but over elections of House committees just similar to what teenagers at Yarmouk University fought over, Yes such mentality represents us in Parliament and while they are supposed to put plans, discuss and force government direction into a way that makes Jordanian lives better they are fighting for silly reasons just like teenagers.

This issue should raise up the red alert, government now are responsible on educating people, fortunately we have a good margin of democracy in Jordan but unfortunately we do not know how to use it yet therefore there should be some public lectures to educate people, people should start question everything those deputies should be responsible and we should be able to take them off the Parliament but hey! are we different anyway ?

Jordantimes -
By Mohammad Ben Hussein

AMMAN — Four major Arabic-language dailies on Monday said they boycotted Parliament after some deputies beat up press photographers and seized their cameras.

“This was an unjustified attack from Parliament members who were supposed to safeguard democracy and constitutional right of the press to cover issues of public interest,” editors of Al Rai, Al Dustour, Al Arab Al Yawm and Al Ghad said in a joint statement.

They also denounced a decision by House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali to confiscate the cameras.

The incident occurred when photojournalists were taking pictures of a fistfight between deputies Mohammad Adwan (Balqa, 2nd District) and Abed Thawabieh (Amman, 7th District) over elections of House committees. MPs, including Mefleh Rheimi (Jerash), Ghaleb Zu’bi (Balqa, 1st District), insulted the press photographers and called them “animals”. Five minutes later, Thawabieh and Adwan attacked each other again, and Rheimi, Zu’bi and Hatem Sarayreh (Karak, 3rd District), who were trying to end the scuffle, beat up and insulted the photojournalists for taking photos for the second time.

The newspapers said they planned to boycott sessions and activities of Parliament “until the House issues a formal apology, condemn this behaviour, return the confiscated cameras and repair the damaged ones”.

According to the statement, “Parliament should be committed to providing proper working conditions for journalists.”

The Jordan Press Association expressed strong condemnation of the “irresponsible and dangerous” act, calling on journalists to boycott Parliament and demanding an apology from Majali, according to a statement.

Describing relations between deputies and journalists as “difficult”, the association called on the House to “provide protection to journalists” at Parliament.

Also, Nidal Mansour, head of the Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists, said it was “unacceptable to insult photographers and journalists for doing their jobs”.

The Higher Council for Media, meanwhile, said Parliament should be a “key supporter of freedom of expression and the press, particularly that crucial legislation will be discussed during the current House session”.

The Foreign Press Club also denounced the attack and called on Parliament to take action to protect journalists.

Is it the cost of being the new empire?

Is it the cost of being the newest world empire to have high crime rate and now the the most prisoners in the World? or is it because they have tough sentencing laws? but why do they have such tough sentencing laws from the first place if they didn't experience high crime rate?

CommonDream.org - WASHINGTON - US Has the Most Prisoners in the World - According to the International Centre for Prison Studies at King's College in London, more people are behind bars in the United States than in any other country. China ranks second with 1.5 million prisoners, followed by Russia with 870,000..

I think Americans could easily ease down the number of Arab immigrant queue in the front of their embassies in Arab countries just by publishing such reports in the front of their doors.

I recently decided to disconnect my home ADSL line so I can enjoy the plenty of time I have after working nine hours a day and now after one week of living without internet at home I can assure it's very healthy for you and your family, now I can spend more time with family, now I can clean the messy room, now I can read some of the giant to-read-list however there are many disadvantages starting from not being able to moderate my blog comments after six pm, not being able to check my email ending by calling a friend asking for a fix (30 minutes using his/her ADSL account) and my first victim was Nimer :D
screenshot.png

It's not that I don't want to renew my ADSL nor it's Tedata's new download policy, it's about me and only me, it's about being able to control myself by staying away from internet for a while without dying slowly and without feeling I have nothing todo not to mention the many many stuff that I have to do at home.

It might sound silly but yet I couldn't leave the computer but this time I was watching Prison Break which is amazing series even more than LOST; however I was able to participate in doing my share of house keeping (YES YES), today I wake up at 6:00 (one hour late then the usual) and start cleaning the floor and you know what? I really enjoyed it heh.

Couple of days ago I had plan to start going to gym but now I'm not sure about it because I can do many thing at home that serves both goals of helping and doing some exercises.

I have many things to do today, need to finish a freelance project, meet a friend to give him some books, begging Nimer for Prison Break Season two episodes and maybe I will have the chance to clean up my bookshelf and reorganize the books I have.

Now I'm sitting in box@shaloot (books@cafe), had my favourite chocolate shake, green mountain coffee (where the hell did they get that name?), checking my email, blog and blogs I follow.

Actually it seems much better and much healthier to stay without internet at home especially when you have a cool place like books@ to go to where you can take your dose of internet, socialize, eat and go back to home to do more serious stuff

Again I'm sorry for not being able to moderate my blog comments in the last three days, all comments are moderated and published now, time to go
ciao

She does not have to respect your God

I understand that many Americans wont do the same but I wonder if they do think that we have different God? We have different religion but we still do pray for the same God, don't we?

Det news - Fitness USA, a gym chain, is investigating an alleged civil rights violation involving a local Muslim woman who says her afternoon prayer was interrupted by a fellow patron, and that her complaint to management about the situation was rejected.

"The manager told me, You have to respect her (the patron), but she does not have to respect your God, said Wardeh Sultan of Dearborn. I've had my membership for seven or eight years, and I've never had a problem with praying there.

I told that manager, 'I can't believe you said that'  Sultan said. Honestly, I feel humiliated and I feel ashamed, right now, to go back to Fitness USA.

Author : Karen Armstrong

History of God - The situation of the Jews in the Islamic empire, where there was no anti-Semitic persecution, was far happier and they had
no need of this Ashkenazi pietism. They were evolving a new type of Judaism, however, as a response to Muslim
developments. Just as the Jewish Faylasufs had attempted to explain the God of the Bible philosophically, other Jews tried
to give their God a mystical, symbolic interpretation. At first these mystics constituted only a tiny minority.

Best motivation so far

to blog anonymously

Why do you write anonymously? I’ll never take anything you say seriously unless you’re willing to put your real name on it.

For all you know, everyone writes anonymously, but you just bought it when they signed their posts ‘Mark.’ The fact of the matter is that the name is only important when you’re an egomaniac that demands recognition for your work. I am not.

For me, the ideas presented are important and I could give a shit what the name is. If I said my name was Sissy McRealnamepants from New Jersey would that make anything I said more valid? Would that take the bite out? Is your opinion more important than mine because a bunch of people who couldn’t pick you out of a crowd know your name is Stacey?

Besides, artists have been using pen names and pseudonyms for generations now, so quit acting like this is some new phenomenon.

Mark Twain. Richard Bachman. Meatloaf. Leigh Nichols. Prince. Madonna. Lemony Snicket. J.K Rowling. Fiona Apple. Marilyn Manson. Nicolas Bourbaki. George Eliot.

All these names are either partially accurate or completely fake. I dare you to say with any seriousness that your blog which precisely documents how many times a day your cat pukes has more artistic merit than anything they’ve ever done simply because you were willing to write your real name on it.

Besides, I have already revealed my name all over this website. Anyone clever could figure it out.

and Why NOT to be a feminist

Do you have any idea what feminism really is? Women don’t exist solely for the purpose of being visually appealing to men, you know! Women don’t like to be objectified.

Oh reallllllyyyyy? Women don’t like being objectified? Then how do you explain:

Botox. Fake breasts. Lingerie. Tummy tucks. Face lifts. Hair care products. French manicures. Make-up. Suggestive dancing. Bikinis. Etc. Etc. Etc.

None of those things suggest that women like to be objectified? Oh wait, I forgot. All that stuff is empowering. My mistake.

This girl is making my day, Read her FAQs

Jordan's Internet - Wanadoo Step forward - Tedata step backward

Yeah I know it's worthy to announce that you have increased the available Internet speed you provide to 2Mbit in Jordan which is just cool at least it shows you how confident they are in their bandwidth.

On the other hand Tedata just announced a new bandwidth cap policy, From now on Tedata will NOT (Can you hear me?) give you unlimited bandwidth plan but limited one

Their new plan start from 3GB a month which I can reach just by checking my email and my blog or you can pay extra money to get 7GB which is also not enough.

Two days ago I decided to disconnect my ADSL line since I will not make use of the 512 speed for more than five days a month which is ridicules, for me it's much easier to live without Internet than being intimidated with being caped.

I don't really know what's causing this in Jordan, is it JTC? TRC? or the lovely ISPs? any clue ?

You Might Be A Programmer If

  1. You immediately complain that this should be subscripted as zero.

  2. Most people say "Go To Hell," but you tell people to redirect to /dev/null.

  3. By the time you've gotten here in the document, you've run Tidy or a similar app to check my X/HTML skills.

  4. The statement (0x2b||!0x2b) makes sense to you.

  5. You find 4 funny.

  6. You note with disgust that it always evaluates to true, since 0x2b != 0.

  7. Point 6 disgusts you, because under other languages than C++ (Java, per se), it would throw an exception, runtime error, etc.

  8. Both points 6 and 7 disgust you, because (0x2b||!0x2b) isn't a statement.

  9. You wonder why there's so much religious debate. After all, can't they just type man life?

  10. When you think of Blowfish, the stuff described on www.blowfish.com has no relation to what comes to mind.

Saudi "legal" serial killer

Isn't he a serial killer ? regardless of how some may interrupt it or legitimise it, Penal code in Islam are crystal clear especially if you deeply digg after it's explanation you will be able to remove the rust that some scholars caused, were you will find how hard and strict it's conditions which makes it very unlikely to be popular.

Again regardless of the faith you hold, being executioner should be something to be proud of or at least shouldn't be easy to talk about.'

MEMRI TV
First TV host: Do you cut off hands, or do you just do beheadings?

Abdallah Al-Bishi: Yes, yes. I carry out the punishment of cutting off thieves' hands, as well as the cutting off of a hand and a leg on alternate sides, as is written in the Koran.

How feminism would ruin your sex life

Violent AcresToday I’m going to tell the men a little secret about women.

Are you listening, men? Come a little closer…a little closer. Shhhhhh, we’ve got to keep our voices down so the feminists don’t hear….

You know that stuff you’ve been reading in the girly magazines that tell you that women like to be romanced with candlelit dinners before you gently (gently!) make love to them by first giving them hours of oral pleasure and then softly (oh so softly!) penetrating them while staring lovingly into their eyes…always making absolutely sure that they reach orgasm first?

Well, it’s all bunk.

Nokia 770!

Unfortunately I couldn't find Nokia 770 tablet in Jordan yet but since we have PayPal accounts now I only have to save some money and purchase it from Nokia.com or some other online stores

To be honest, I don't want to pull money out of my wallet to buy it nor I want to use my credit card, So How I'm going to get money so I can buy it ?

I have PayPerPost where I can pick the appropriate opportunity and blog about it and YES THEY PAY FOR THAT!

so far I have $40 in my PayPerPost bucket and it's growing in one or two months I guess they will be around $400 so I can buy Nokia 770

First time I found about PPP was through techcrunch and I wasn't that happy to read about their project but after Peter's comment which made many things clear to me and it made it curious to try PPP out and it was cool! yes it's cool you got to try it guys
