The real deal on Joining the Military

Interesting video by Before you Enlist showing discrepancy between what the military offers you to convince you in joining them and what you will get when you come back (If you were lucky).

Its not meant to tell that war in Iraq is bad or good nor but to push young people to re-think about their personal choice of joining the military.

Promises
* Collage funds
They will promise you to get enough money for your collage but on average the Montgomery GI Bill will only cover 1/2 the cost of a public collage and 1/5 the cost of a private collage.

And the other interesting fact is that almost 1/2 of Montgomery GI Bill participants never receive funding.

* Military will help you to get better life when you come back (If you were lucky)
but according toe VA estimates on any given night 200,000 veterans are homeless, you will learn how to clean weapons and floor but you will have nothing that would help you in getting job when you are back (if you were lucky)

* They will tell you anything to let you sign the contract, they will tell you war is just like a video game! but you will be bount by the enlistment contract but the military is not, they can change anything at any time int the contract.

Since the start of the Iraq war the Army has extended the enlistment of more than 50,000 troops through Stop-Loss

I don't want to ruin it for you, watch this video and you will understand what I'm talking about.

Yet another bug

A bugs free software is just a dream, I aware of that, I believe in that and that settle.

I also can't claim that Free Software are bugs free but people behind Free Software aren't changing you with BIG FAT cheque and they don't ask you every year to pay more and more, Basically they do free software you use it, report bugs they fix it, this is the cycle and everyone is happy!

I wonder how one can be happy when he pay lots of money to get crappy software from a company people look at it in respect because it is the the biggest one in the market no in the world.

Yet another bug has been found in Microsoft's recently-released Internet Explorer 7 browser. The software giant is downplaying the flaw, which security experts say allows hackers to "spoof" Web addresses.

I know there are many bugs in Firefox and in any Free Software but they are less and not crucial ones, Thanks god I'm not a windows loser.

German Police hunting pranksters

*OMG* What's happening in Germany are hilarious, a pranksters group called MadYouThink
have been circulating miniature flag portraits of US President George W. Bush into piles of dog poo in public parks.

Indybay.org - Police in Germany are hunting pranksters who have been sticking
miniature flag portraits of US President George W. Bush into piles of
dog poo in public parks. Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth,
said: "This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be
2,000 to 3,000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that
time."

The series of incidents was originally thought to be some sort of
protest against the US-led invasion ofIraq. And then when it continued
it was thought to be a protest against President George W. Bush's
campaign for re-election. But it is still going on and the police say
they are completely baffled as to who is to blame. "We have sent out
extra patrols to try to catch whoever is doing this in the act," said
police spokesman Reiner Kuechler. "But frankly, we don't know what we
would do if we caught them red handed." Legal experts say there is no
law against using feces as a flag stand and the federal legal experts
say there is no law against using feces as a flag stand and the federal
constitution is vague on the issue.

More about fun facts

During my today's journey in finding fun facts blog or sites, I found this interesting article titled, Why does orange juice tastes so bad after brushing your teeth ?

It's a question you may never have asked, but if you've ever brushed your teeth before you've had a glass of juice, you'll know why we had to seek professional advice.

David Cannell is the scientific spokesperson for Questacon, "It's because of a certain ingredient in toothpaste called sodium laurel sulfate. It actually blocks sweet sensors. All the other taste bud cells in your mouth are firing away nicely, but the receptors which pick up the sweet sensors are not working anymore. Not only does it block the sweet sensors, it enhances the sour and bitter, so you get this massive influx of sour and bitter taste coming through the mouth."

David says tastebuds are a very interesting part of the body, "They're the little bumps on the top of your tongue. They look like a tiny onion, if you look at it with a high powered microscope. Each tastebud, which we have about ten thousand of, has about fifty different taste cells."

"The tastebud itself goes through such a heavy process of tasting things left, right and centre, it gets too much for them. They actually die after about two weeks. But they generally grow back, but they don't always grow back. As you get older and older, your tastebuds do generally die off. You can be left with only two or three thousand."

"Kids have incredible taste sensitivity", David explains, "something that is really quite strong to taste they might consider completely disgusting. When you grow old, you get used to it." David laughs, "I think the message in here is not to feed children vegetables at the dinner table!"

"Scientists aren't sure why tastebuds do grow back, and why they don't grow back. But there are some things that will affect your tastebuds not growing back that will dull your taste sensitivity. Things like smoking", David Cannell.

fun facts blog

Today I decided to change my blogs readings habit so I thought I would be doing good to myself if I do search for new blogs that interest me to follow, because I have BA in Political science and Law and because I work as Web developer I always read political and geeky blogs but now I need to change my reading direction little just for a change but at the same time I don't want to run into another category specific blogs and as a technorati junkie I thought it would be the best to see what it will recommend to the poor me.

I was always big fan of facts books, I actually have at least 10 facts books in my bookshelf but I'm not the hard copy books reader any more so I have to find a fun facts blog. Let me ask you couple of questions, Do you know the history of Macaroni and Cheese? do you know why they called Katrina hurrican Katrina ? these are fun facts you would love to read from time to time.

Maybe I wasn't that lukcy in term of number of blogs that writes about such stuff but at least I was lucky because I found a good one
Aviva Trivia blog It's really interesting to read such blogs, I highly recommend reading this blog, we got plenty of news channels and blogs but we are really missing such fun facts blogs.

I really like Aviva's blog and hope you will like it too

To John Howard

Can you do me a favour ? Please?
Kick this idiot out of Australia, I BEG YOU

Ok, let me explain why ...
Australia's most senior Muslim cleric has prompted an uproar by saying that some women are attracting sexual assault by the way they dress.

but he didn't explain if it's with spice or not ? nor if it's chicken or fish meat and by the way, if it's a meat then it's fine to eat meat errr this is so stupid
A spokesman for Sheikh Hilali earlier said the quote had been taken out of context and referred not to sexual assault, but to sexual infidelity.

And because it was taken out of context he's suing that Journalist, Oopps he's not, he's apologising..
But he has now apologised for any offence caused by his comments, The Australian newspaper reports.

If it was taken out of context and referred not to sexual assault then why he apologised ?

For god sake Mr Taj el-Din al-Hilali, RESIGN.

Iran bans fast internet to cut west's influence

Damn damn! What someone would decided to go backward ? shouldn't it be forward? for god sake what's wrong in getting exposed to a very civilized cultural ? and if Iranian consider it as opponent cultural then open your mind and learn from it I'm sure there are many many things one can learn from that cultural.

Guardian - In a blow to the country's estimated 5 million internet users, service providers have been told to restrict online speeds to 128 kilobytes a second and been forbidden from offering fast broadband packages. The move by Iran's telecommunications regulator will make it more difficult to download foreign music, films and television programmes, which the authorities blame for undermining Islamic culture among the younger generation. It will also impede efforts by political opposition groups to organise by uploading information on to the net.

iran372.jpg

Well, not to tease you guys at Iran's telecommunications regulator but this wont make things harder at all, people can schedule their download manager to download stuff while sleeping and listen or watch it later, If you feel weak or having weak society that easy to be changed then you start the change and help them to be better, give them the power instead of letting someone else do it.

Thoughts on Eid

What's going on in Jordanian blogospher are really funny, People don't understand the basic of Why do we announce Eid or Ramadan and they still nagging why we do follow Saudi Arabia in Pilgrimage and we don't do that in Ramadan ..

Ok, Let me unleash my wisdom and explain some facts to you guys

First
In Islam we do fast when we see the moon in it's lunar shape (Helal) this is what every country have to do, regardless of any neighbour country, If you see the Helal you do fast else you don't and if you see it you celebrate the eid else you don't.
Again we do fast based on moon shapes NOT based on any country or anyone opinion, this is the norm of Hijri Calendar.

Second
Why we do follow Saudi Arabia in Pilgrimage (Thu Al-Heja Month) and not in other months?
Basically because we have to follow their time zone just because we are going to Mecca and Mecca aren't coming to us :D
If you are flying to the state now you will have to synchronize your time based on their time not your time and this because YOU are going to that country.

The only note is that all Hijri calendar get synchronized in Pilgrimage month (Thu Al-Hija) so all of them have same day of 1 of the month and this happen only in this month not the ones before nor after.

Many of you aren't aware in the fact that Saudi Arabia did mistake before two years and they had to pay ...... (Kafara) for their mistake in monitoring the moon shapes and this year many of the daily newspaper that they fall in same mistake this year also) but now the mistake isn't fixable because they cannot fast more than 30 days as Ramadan month can't be 31 days and today is the 30th of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

but Khalida still wondering...

I think we should follow them for everything else? why does each country search for its own Hilal? or is this applicable only for ramadan and the rest of the year, we follow KSA??

We do search for our own Lunar shape of the moon because it can be lunar in some parts in the world while it has other shapes in the other parts and YES this is applicable for all months except the the Pilgrimage month (Thu Al-Hija) just for the sake of Pilgrimage synchronizations and because people are travelling to Mecca, HOWEVER it is not a must to synchronize our time in Pilgrimage month but we have to do Pilgrimage according to their time and date not ours.

It might be hard to get it just because we aren't used to use Hijri Calendar, we are more used to Georgian calendar but we still should know the basics of Hijri Calendar.

Darn! They want to acquire Yahoo!

You wont believe it guys but Ted Murphy the founder of PayPer post who's trying to change the advertising industry from Advertising on blogs to have the content of blogs as ads on blogs which some people like Business week think they are Polluting The Blogosphere while others like news.com think that PayPerPost will kill the blogs, Today Ted Murphy announced that they don't have any plan to compete with ReviewME.com but their plan is to acquire Yahoo!

I can understand ubuntu first bug

Microsoft has a majority market share in the new desktop PC marketplace. This is a bug, which Ubuntu is designed to fix.

and I actually consider it as a noble goal but what would happen if small business or actually a startup business like Payperpost start to acquire big companies like Yahoo! or maybe later Google? that would be real clot strike.

Mesothelioma Cancer & Refugee camps

Yesterday Kinzi advised me again and again to quit smoking and she mentioned how her parents died because of smoking related cancer, God bless them they are in better place now.

That comment made me to start thinking seriously to quit smoking not because of death as I believe it's written but because I don't want to suffer not not nor when I become old man.

Because I don't usually listen to people I decided to start reading about cancer, it's Signs and symptoms and while searching I came across Mesothelioma cancer which is very interesting kind of cancers as I never thought that one could develop a cancer by getting exposed to asbestos.

Wikipedia -
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos.[1] In this disease, malignant cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body's internal organs. Its most common site is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and chest cavity), but it may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity) or the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart).

Most people who develop mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or have been exposed to asbestos dust and fibre in other ways, such as by washing the clothes of a family member who worked with asbestos, or by home renovation using asbestos cement products. There is no association between mesothelioma and smoking.[2]

Now, Why it's interesting ? because most of refugees camps in Jordan uses asbestos! same applies to refugee camps in Gaza, unfortunately it's widely used in refugees camps as if they need more reason to suffer

UNRWA -Today, most refugees live in crowded shelters and about 70 percent of shelter roofs are covered with asbestos sheeting.

Unfortunately we don't have the awareness of Mesthelioma nor what would be result of getting exposed to asbestos, I was shocked when I read that UNRWA provided asbestos roofing for Jabal al-hussein refugee camp, in their website there are no indicator when was that and if they still have the asbestos roofing.

UNRWA - The camp was set up in l952 for 8,000 refugees on an area of 421,000 square metres north west of Amman. The refugees replaced the original tents with more durable shelters and UNRWA provided asbestos roofing. The camp has since grown into an urban-like quarter and has become part of Amman.

Now the shocking news is that I might have been exposed to asbestos! Yes, I remember the old abu ayed shop which was in Jabal amman - First circling having ASBESTOS ROOFING! AND I USED TO DRINK PEPSI EVERY DAY IN THAT PLACE! now I guess I have to read more about the level of exposure that would develop Mesothelioma cancer mean while read about Mesothelioma best treatment information financial assistance
